Many hats

In my world, things sometimes happen in an unexplained sequence. I wear many hats and I think I wear most of them well. As a Indie business owner and jewelry designer, I am my photographer, web designer, graphic designer, production line, social media, etc. I’ll hammer metal at 8 am and pour resin at midnight. I’ll blog from a waiting room and design business cards from my laptop. This is how I operate and also how I keep from being bored.
Lately though, I just want to get my hands dirty, I want to make things. Lots of things. My new found love for working with metal, particularly recycled metal, has been so exciting! I recycle, repurpose, and have an eye like a hawk for found objects. I brought home a suitcase full of rocks from Seattle which will eventually be rings and necklaces.
So, the question is, which hat will I wear today? Don’t get me wrong, I love hats, but somedays, I’d like to retire a few…

Feeling bored, dying to create
Sometimes you find yourself in a situation you cannot change. But that doesn’t mean your mind can’t dream. Today I find myself bored (which almost NEVER happens) and my mind wanders to my workbench…all that metal, stone, fabric and inspitation, and there’s nothing I can do about it. But the way I see it, I’ll appreciate it that much more when we meet again. So for now, I’ll sketch in my mind… Stay tuned
Fun with resin~
After attending Artfest 2012 in Port Townsend Washington, I’ve been dying to dive in and test my newly acquired skills. Resin is a whole new world for me! You see things differently. What can I resin today? Tomorrow? How will it turn out? What will I use it for? On and on…
Here’s a photo of a few things I’ve resin’d. A cigar band ring, wire heart and a few odds & ends. The little egg was a mistake from one of my chickens, (lucky for me). I can’t wait to attach it to my bird nest ring :]
Thank you Susan Lenart Kazmer for a wonderful experience and for all that you taught me <3
Not much to say…
I haven’t posted lately because I’ve been lost in my creations. What a wonderful feeling…Spending my waking hours learning, making things and building my business so others can enjoy cool things with very little impact on the environment. I seem to find a new cause everyday :)
Here’s my favorite piece; green magnesite necklace made from a recycled can and vintage chains~ www.shopjomama.com

After the busy holiday season, I finally started the shredded paper quilt I’ve been dying to start. Here’s how it goes…
I’ll keep you updated with photo’s of my progress.
Working on the holiday rush
I know I haven’t blogged much lately, but I’ve been busy adding new items to my store (www.shopjomama.com) and sewing away on my Bernina for the holiday rush. I love this time of year, as hectic as it can be.
So what do you think of this cute little number? It’s a collective of repurposed sweater in a combination that’s to die for, and it’s available in my shop. I’ve been filling custom order too, like aprons with family recipe’s on them, great gift idea!
I’ve been working on exposure for Jomama and getting my creations seen, so if you dig this, please feel free to pin it on Pinterest :]

I just added this fun bicycle puzzle necklace to my shop, www.shopjomama.com
It’s a creative use of puzzle scraps you have around and recycled magazines.
I used my Bernina to reinforce the fabric “chain” which was also a scrap.
Can you believe this stuff would have ended up in a landfill?
Film Festival Fun!

I’ve been working on a few headpieces for the Ft Lauderdale Int’l film Festival this month. Manipulating, twisting and bending, all clothing and accessories will be made out of film by local designers with a fashion show at the end of the month. Date & location to be announced.
